Huncote Action Group (HAG) has been established to campaign against over development in the village, initially with regards to the 154 dwellings proposed for the site behind Peers Way, Preston Way and Ratcliffe Drive.
Our team is made up of people who live in Huncote who will be impacted by the proposed new developments, but who are committed to ensuring the village remains safe and that people who live here have access to appropriate amenities.
Our aims are as follows:
1. To ensure Huncote village remains safe for everyone who lives here, and for those who travel through it on a daily basis.
2. To ensure that any developments are proportionate to local need.
We are a group of local people committed to ensuring the village remains safe for everyone, and that it can provide access to appropriate amenities.

Daultry Road will be the ONLY route into the site. 200+ cars per day will use this small road, which is already over-parked and has poor sight lines. The Planning Statement says: “The scheme proposes two points of vehicular, pedestrian and cycle access into the site. These take the form of a continuation of Peers Way and Preston Way to the north of the site.” This completely overlooks the fact that Peers Way and Preston Way are only accessible via Daultry Road.
Traffic along Denman Lane and Narborough Road (leading to Main Street) will increase exponentially. Narborough Road is already a difficult road to navigate due to parked cars on the road in front of the row of terraced houses. The proposal will add danger to this road.
The development will have a significant impact on the local environment, taking away green field land and adding further pressure to the local nature reserve. The loss of open space, including the recently installed Public Right of Way linking Peers Way to the Croft Nature Reserve will now be routed through a housing estate. There will little or no bio-diversity gain as far as we can ascertain.
Please let us know what you think about the development? But more importantly visit Blaby District Council website and object to the proposal
